Why government portals reject HEIC photos
iPhones save photos in HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) using 10-bit color depth and the wide Display P3 color gamut, which produces smaller files with richer color than older formats. The problem is that most government visa and passport upload portals — and plenty of ordinary web forms — are built to accept only classic 8-bit sRGB JPEG, the universal standard that's been around since the 1990s.
